Assignment 8

1. What is the Indian Removal Act?
walid & Kobus : The Indian Removal Act was a series of treaties signed in America to try and forcefully move the indian people. the rich and powerful people of the United States wanted to devide the land for their own use.

Davy , Simon and Vincent: The Indian Removal Act was a violent way to force the indian people from their own land. The Indian people were promised that they would be compensated for their loss of land. They would get an equal amount of land in the west.

Do you think treaties between Native Americans and the American government were profitable for both sides?

walid & Simon : we think that they were equally compensated  eventhough it wasn't fair what the Americans did.

Kobus and Davy : we think the Indian people suffered from emotional damage and because of that they needed to get more.

Vincent: I think everything was equally devided and so the indian people shouldn't complain about their loss of their land.

Explain the title "Trail of tears".

the native americans were forced to move from their own land so they "cried". and because they were moving they left a trail, so think about this crying involves tears and moving a trail. thats why it's called the Trail of tears.
